James Morris Gilchrist - an 85 year-old native of Washington County, Alabama and longtime resident of Chunchula passed away at his home on Monday, March 19, 2012. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and retired from the civil service as a painter after many years of service at Brookley Field. Mr. Gilchrist was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Rosa Nell Gilchrist. He is survived by his children, Audra Bell, Gail Braggs, Corky Pierson, Mary Braggs, Ralph Pierson, and Sharon Vial; sister, Sherry Fulmer; brother, Joseph Gilchrist; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends. Graveside services will be held in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the graveside service.
