James Randall Shanks Jr., age 71, of Grand Bay, Alabama passed away on Monday March 16, 2020. He was born August 22, 1948 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and is preceded in death by his parents, James William Shanks and Winnie Merle Ward Shanks.
Mr. Shanks was retired after working many years in the industrial sales business. He was a 1974 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and had been an active member of the Alumni Association for many years. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, earning the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of 75 Ranger RGT. He enjoyed fishing, darts and golf, along with precious time spent with his family.
Mr. Shanks is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Meredith and Luke Jones, grandchildren; Dylan Randall and Kinley Jones. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Jones and special companion and friend, Patsy Parker.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Inurnment will be held in the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery, Spanish Fort, AL.
