
James Joseph “Joe” Terrell, III – A native and lifelong resident of Mobile, passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. Joe was raised in St. Catherine of Siena Parish. His family ran the Terrell Dairy in Crichton for many years. Joe was one of three members of the first graduating class of Semmes High School in 1954. He was an outstanding football player for Semmes and was named All County his senior year. He served his country during the Korean war in the U.S. Army. Joe worked for Sears, Roebuck & Company during his early career, then became a local contractor, and retired as a Mobile County Building Inspector. He was also an avid fisherman. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Doris “Denna” Broughton Terrell; and his parents, James “Jimmy” Joseph Terrell, Jr. and Claudine Seabury Terrell. Survivors include his daughter, Pamela Terrell (David) McElhany of Dallas, TX; his son, Michael Joseph Terrell of Austin, TX; two grandchildren, Ashton Elizabeth McElhany and Cameron Jordan McElhany; his siblings, Betty J. Terrell, Mary Ellen Divin, Charles G. (Carolyn) Terrell, Dottie (C.C.) Hemphleng, and Ronald D. (Carolyn) Terrell; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Sanford; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be Friday, December 3, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street.
