

Mr. Wintzell graduated from McGill Institute and attended Auburn University. He and his father owned and operated Wintzell's Oyster House for over 30 years. An avid Civil War historian, He was instrumental in discovering the Civil War ironclad "Tecumseh "located in Mobile Bay.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Oliver and Wilhelmina Wintzell and his twin sister Olivette.
Mr. Wintzell is survived by the love of his life, LaSonia Nolan Wintzell whom he married on June 24, 1950. Six children Clifton Bradley ( Vali ) Wintzell, Deborah Wintzell (Stephan) Wilson, of Mobile, Terry Lynn Wintzell of New Orleans, LA., James Craig Wintzell of Dauphin Island, Alabama, Kim Wintzell Fram of Fairhope and James Oliver (Kristy ) Wintzell. III, of Canton Georgia. One sister, Linda Wintzell ( Neal ) Schafer of Mobile, seven grandchildren and many family and friends.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to the entire staff of the Allen Memorial Home and to the SICU Unit of Mobile Infirmary for their selfless devotion to the care of our father.
Visitation will be from 10am - 11am on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Our Savior Catholic Church, Cody Road, Mobile with Mass of the Christian Burial immediately following. Interment will be in St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery, Bayou La Batre, Alabama.
