

Jane Norwood Adams, died peacefully on January 6, 2017, after a brief illness. Jane was born in Mobile Alabama to Alma Jessie Baumhauer Gillies and Joseph Robert Norwood, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willie Claude (Dub) Adams, her son Joseph William (Mac) McMillin, Jr., and her daughter Ann McMillin Tyner (Fred). She is survived by her daughter, Judith Louise McMillin, Point Clear, Alabama (Norman Tanner), and her grandchildren Lewis Tyner, Madison Mississippi, Kathryn Norwood Andrews, Los Angeles California (Hans Peter Thomas), and Lisa Tyner Williams, Madison Mississippi (John). Jane is also survived by her step-children Lynn Whiting Ross, Point Clear, Alabama (David), William Claude Whiting, Mobile Alabama (Sydney), and Robert Samuel Whiting, Mobile Alabama (Helen), four great- grandchildren, and numerous step-grand and step-great grandchildren.
Jane was a graduate of Murphy High School and attended All Saints' Episcopal Diocese Girls School in Vicksburg, Mississippi. A life-long member of the Mobile Episcopal Church community, she grew up in All-Saints' Episcopal Church, served many years as Director of the Episcopal Youth Community (EYC) at Trinity Episcopal Church, as counselor at Camp McDowell, and later as a member of Christ Church Cathedral. Jane worked in multiple executive positions with the First National Bank, Mobile Alabama, managing both the main banking office and bank branches prior to her retirement in 1989. Jane was an active board member, volunteer and fundraiser for Make a Wish Foundation, the Moorer YMCA, The American Red Cross, and the Joe Jefferson Players.
A graveside service will be held for the family at Pine Crest Cemetery on Friday, January 13th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., to be followed by an open reception to celebrate Jane’s life at Christ Church Cathedral, Mobile Alabama, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
The family would like to thank the wonderful companion/ caregivers that filled Jane's last years of life with pure joy and adventure, which she reciprocated in kind with her quick wit and zest for life. Her cheerfulness, kindness and humor brought a smile to every face and will be sorely missed.
