Mrs. Jessie Glover McElroy, a native of Prattville, Alabama and a longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama died on Monday, August 27, 2012 at the age of 76. Mrs. McElroy was a graduate of the University of Alabama where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Social Sorority. After receiving her degree in education, she moved to Mobile and taught first grade for many years until her retirement. Mrs. McElroy was also a member of Christ Anglican Church, where she sang in the choir, was an accomplished pianist and a passionate cook. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Robert “Bob” McElroy; her parents, Mr and Mrs. Williamson Allen Glover and sister, Nita Caudle Kerlin. She is survived by three children, William Robert McElroy, Jr., Ruth McElroy Lanier and John Stephen McElroy; two sisters, Allen Glover Livingston and Ruth Glover Graham; five grandchildren, one great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 12 noon from Christ Anglican Church, 3275 Halls Mill Road. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
