Jo Ann Tanner Pate of Mobile and Point Clear, Alabama passed away on August 17, 2020, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She is survived by her children Jacque Jr. (Xinyu), Jane Pate Rothman, Jo Ann (Bob); her sister Janice; and grandchildren John Tanner, William, Elodie, and Denis. Her devoted husband, Jacque, preceded her in death. The family thanks Sue Kilborn (who came to see her weekly) and her other close friends that provided support. The family especially thanks Chandra for her companionship and her many years of caregiving.
Family and friends were central to Jo Ann’s life, and she and Jacque opened their bay house often for gatherings and parties. Sitting on the porch with Jacque overlooking the bay was where she was often found. At various times the porch was full with children, grandchildren, sisters and brothers. An avid birdwatcher and bridge player, she also loved traveling with Jacque to England, Scotland, and Italy. Jo Ann also found time to volunteer and support many local charities, including President of the Florence Crittenton Home Board.
A graveside service will be held for the family on Thursday, August 20, 2020. At 9 a.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery.
