Joan Catherine Shelkofsky

She was preceded in death by her husband whom she married in 1959, John D. Shelkofsky; her parents, Cornelius William and Marguerite C. Frei Swann, Sr.; five siblings, Lois (Richard) Edwards, Margaret (Arnold “Shorty”) Dahlgren, Thelma (Howard) Giles, infant brother, Cornelius Swann, Jr.; and her twin sister, Jean Swann as well as aunts, uncles and other relatives. Also, preceded in death was her long best friend, Hilda Scarcliff Kelley.

She is survived by her loving and devoted children, JoAnn (Stephen) Hemphill, John David Shelkofsky, Jr.; and Joyce Marie Shelkofsky; four grandchildren, Robert, Spencer, Sara and Michael; three great granddaughters, Maria, Layla and Sierra; a sister-in-law, Lillian Rollins and a dear friend for over 50 years Jerry Howard. She was a mother to many and loved and will be greatly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Convent of Mercy

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at The Holy Family Catholic Church, 1400 Joyce Road, Mobile, AL. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Church at Noon. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery West. Mobile, Alabama.
