The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on February 7, 2025, at Radney Funeral Home located at 3155 Dauphin Street, in Mobile, Alabama. The Pastor of Creekwood Church of Christ will be officiating. Visitation will be held at 9:00 am, prior to the funeral services. Burial and graveside services will follow the funeral services at New Hope Community Church (formerly New Hope United Methodist Church), located at 1166 New Hope Dixon Circle, in Frankville, Alabama.
John William Bogle, Jr. was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee on April 12th, 1941. He graduated from Theodore High School in 1959 and immediately enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served four years of active duty. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force, John embarked on a remarkable journey in law enforcement, serving as a Mobile County Sheriff's Deputy, before elevating his career as an Alabama State Trooper, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. As a dedicated public servant, John's work in Safety Education and Public Relations regularly showcased his expertise on local news channels, where he hosted numerous television programs that championed highway and traffic safety. A skilled marksman and aviator, John was a proud competitor on the Alabama State Trooper Pistol Team and successfully piloted various fixed-wing and rotor-winged aircraft. Throughout his remarkable career, John forged an unbreakable bond with the law-enforcement community, a testament to his dedication and passion.
On Friday, February 13, 1981, John would meet his future wife and soulmate, Sharon H. Bogle. After 10 years of courtship, they were married on August 31, 1991, and shared 331/2 wonderful years together.
After retiring from the Alabama Department of Public Safety, John embarked on a new chapter, leveraging his expertise to pilot aircraft and collaborate on projects with his most trusted friend, Russell Myles. After 60 years of friendship, John and Russell were like brothers who shared adventures and experiences that sparked a bold entrepreneurial spirit that empowered him to launch his own successful business of 28 years. In his free time, John generously volunteered his time with unwavering dedication to support the Mobile County Sheriff's Office by leading the Sheriff's Posse. His love for horses and ceremonial events kept him involved with the Conde Cavalier’s Mardi Gras Association for 47 years.
John is survived by his wife, Sharon Bogle; his sons, John Daryl Bogle along with his wife, Tiffany Bogle, and Robert Dale Bogle along with his wife, Denna Bogle; as well as four sisters: Margaret and Winston Wilkinson, Margie Hooks, Marianne Gregus, and Joan Tornquist. John has three grandchildren: William Aiden Bogle, Nicolas Corbin Bogle and Jenna Shay Coley along with her husband Sean along with two great-grandchildren, Carter Anthony Coley and Declan James Coley. His brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John W. “Jay” and Charlotte Motes, along with his niece Ashley Motes O’Gwynn (Husband-William B. O’Gwynn) and nephew John Christopher Motes. His Uncle by marriage, Dempsey H. Henson.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Louise Bogle, his sister Betty Jean Evans, and his father in-law, Jesse “Bo” Henson and his mother in-law, Wilma Henson
