
May 1, 1920 - Sept. 5, 2014 A native of Chicago, Illinois and resident in Mobile but lived on Dauphin Island where he and his wife enjoyed fishing, golf and their many friends. John graduated from Hyde Park High School; he was an Eagle Scout. He Graduated from Purdue University where he received his Degree in Engineering and was a member of the ROTC. John was a WWII veteran serving in the United States Army as a Major and fought in Germany and France. John spent 45 years in management of paper mill properties from Mexico City to Indiana, Ohio and Alabama where he retired from the Mobile Paperboard. John passed away peacefully on Sept. 5, 2014 surrounded by his wife of 66 years Maureen Watson Miller and his daughter Susan Miller Ball. John was preceded in death by his father Reginald Parsons Miller and mother Marguerite Hart Miller and his sister Nancy (Miller) Dobson. John is survived by his wife: Maureen Watson Miller, his daughters; Kathleen (Harrison) Francis and Susan (Miles) Ball, his son: John A (Marcia) Miller, his granddaughters: Abigail Francis, Victoria (Tori) Ball, Sarah Miller and Emily Miller, his grandsons: John (Tina Swisher) Francis and Myles Ball and a great granddaughter Kai (Swisher) Francis. Visitation will be on Tuesday morning September 16, 2014 from 10am to 11am at Pine Crest Funeral with Graveside services following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association P.O.
