Joseph David Gardner passed away at his home in Theodore, Alabama on February 15, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was 81, born March 31, 1933 in Bayou La Batre, Alabama, he was the son of the late Rufus Gardner and Mamie Johnston Gardner.
Joseph was a 1951 graduate of Alba High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 where he served 4 years aboard the Naval Vessel U.S.S. Redhead as a chief engineer. On returning to the states Joseph was a Pipe Fitter employed by International Paper Company in Mobile, Alabama for 42 years before retiring in 1998.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Gardner; Sister, Dorothy Lancaster; two daughters, Rochelle (Cecil) Barnes, Carrie (Leo) Rozycke; four grand-children, Joseph Kesterson, Jannice (Christopher) Glover, Anthony (Emory) Barnes, Carolyn Barnes, one great-grand child Mary Grace “Gracie” Glover and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 18th 2015, at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street from 10 am to 12 pm. Chapel Service will follow visitation with graveside services at Mobile Memorial Gardens
