
On July 7, 2016, Josephine Ramos Nicaud of Daphne, Alabama died surrounded by her family. She was born on March 18, 1931 in St. Augustine, Florida to Joseph and Mary Ramos, first generation Portugese-Americans. As a young girl, she moved to Patterson, Louisiana. She attended H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College (Tulane University) in New Orleans. It was in New Orleans, her most loved city, that she met her husband, New Orleans native Roy Joseph Nicaud. They were wed at St. Dominic Catholic Church on October 11, 1958 and remained married for 51 years until Roy’s passing. Jo and Roy moved to Mobile, Alabama in 1960 where they raised three daughters, Cassandra Nicaud Gore of New Orleans, Louisiana, Maria Nicaud Masterson of Fairhope, Alabama and Simone Nicaud Walsh of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was a devout Catholic, active member of St. Dominic’s Parish in Mobile and a volunteer at Providence Hospital. Since 2011, Jo resided at The Brennity assisted living residence where she had many friends and received excellent care. In her lifetime, Jo was a much loved and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her three daughters, their husbands, Michael Gore, Kevin Masterson and Bret Walsh, and her five grandchildren, Tyler (Caitlin) Glennon Masterson of Houston, Texas, Kevin Francis Masterson, II and Charles Leighton Masterson of Fairhope, Alabama, Brendan Thomas Walsh and Grayson Patrick Walsh of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and many Nicaud nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be held in her honor on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne. A visitation at the church will begin at 9:30 a.m. The Mass will be followed by burial at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Catholic Charities of Mobile or the Mitchell Cancer Center.Arrangements under the direction of Pine Crest Funeral Home, MOBILE, AL.
