Lamar Keithley was born on January 19, 1951 and was a lifelong resident of the Tanner Williams and Wilmer communities. He departed this life on June 22, 2025 at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and happy memories.
Lamar worked as a machinist for 35 years at GAF Building Materials Corporation and he proudly served in the Marine Corps Reserve for 6 years. He was a longtime member of Tanner Williams Assembly of God Church where he served on the church board for 20 years. For the past two years, Lamar and Linda have enjoyed the fellowship of being a part of Tanner Williams Holiness Church.
For 52 blessed years, Lamar was married to his precious wife Linda. They were true partners in every sense—rarely seen apart, always in sync, and forever making each other laugh. Whether they were working on a project, spending time with their grandsons, or just sharing a cup of coffee, they were like two peas in a pod—perfectly matched and completely inseparable.
Lamar was a proud Daddy to his daughters, Mindy (Scott) Rowe and Amy (Matt) Malinauskas and Pop to his grandsons Toby Rowe, Logan Rowe, Reed Malinauskas, and Luke Malinauskas. Lamar is also survived by his sister Evelyn Keithley Smith, his brother Johnny (Debbie) Keithley, his brother-in-law Bubba Chambliss and many family and friends.
Lamar is preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Nadine Keithley, his sister Barbara Keithley Chambliss and his brother-in-law Bobby Smith.
A master of all things handy, Lamar always had a project in the works and someone asking for help. He never said no. Lamar showed up with a smile, some tools and probably a joke or two.
And oh, the stories he could tell! No one really knows how he remembered them all, but he could keep a room entertained for hours. Lamar never met a stranger, and he never ran out of things to say.
Above all, Lamar loved the Lord. He strived to live a life that was pleasing to God and never hesitated to share his faith and the many ways God had blessed his life. He was a man of deep gratitude, especially for his salvation and his family, and he carried that thankfulness in everything he did.
Lamar was the kind of man who could build anything, fix everything, and talk to anyone. He had a story for every occasion, a joke for every moment, and a heart big enough to hold a lifetime of love and laughter. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished.
Visitation will held Friday, June 27th at Freedom House (formerly Tanner Williams Assembly of God Church) from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Pierce Creek Cemetery. Bro. Donnie Williamson, Ben Smith and Chip Smith will officiate the service.
Pallbearers are Toby Rowe, Logan Rowe, Walker Seales, Tim Miller, Matthew Fairley, and Stacie Hinton. Honorary pallbearers are Reed Malinauskas and Luke Malinauskas.
