Margaret Collier Burns

Mrs. Margaret Collier Burns, age 87 of Coden, AL, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Henry “Sonny” and Mary Anna Murphy Collier, husband Michael L. Burns, Jr., Infant son, Martin Anthony Burns, six siblings and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Burns retired from the United States Postal Service after several years of service and was co-owner of two businesses. She was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. She will be remembered by her family and friends, as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Although she wore many titles, she cherished her title as Wife and Meema the most. She will be greatly missed by all.

Mrs. Burns is survived by her children, Charles Michael “Chuck” Burns (Kenny), Christa Burns Strachan (Mike) and brother-in-law, Patrick Burns. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren; Chuck Burns, Jr. (Lisa), Kelli Burns Miller (Ricky), Michael Steele (Amy), Elizabeth Nelson (Dan) and Eric Steele, 14 great-grandchildren; Abby Burns, Rick Miller, III, Zachary Miller, Thomas Miller, Brant Womack, Tyler Womack, Anna Womack, Gideon Steele, Nathan Steele, Hannah Steele, Grace Steele, Alex Steele, Gus Steele and Violet Steele.

Visitation will be held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, Bayou La Batre , AL on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Coden, AL.
