Mary Woods Grimes

Mary Helen Woods Grimes, 82, of Theodore entered into rest peacefully with her heavenly Father and was reunited with those she loves who have passed before her in the presence of her family on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Al.

Mrs. Grimes was a devoted and loving wife, mother, neighbor, and friend. She was an avid reader, loved the piano and gospel music, and had a great passion for gardening. Yet, her greatest love was of the Lord and her unwavering faith in him gave her the strength to overcome any obstacle placed in her way. Mrs. Grimes never hesitated to help anyone she encountered in need. She will always be remembered for her compassion and strong desire to help others. She will be forever missed and her memory will remain with all who were so fortunate to have known her.

Mrs. Grimes was a native of Deer Park, AL, born Friday, October 21, 1932, to the late Joseph Ray and Della Turner Woods, Sr. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Walter Woods, Melvin Woods, Hollis Woods, Clyde Woods, and Joseph Woods, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 62 years, A.R. Grimes, two sons, Wayne Bernard Grimes and Timothy R. Grimes, a granddaughter, Tiffany S. Grimes all of Theodore, AL, two brothers, Carl (Dessie) Woods of Milwaukee, WI and George (Annie L.) Woods of Deer Park, AL, a sister, Martha (A.C.) Bivens of Deer Park, AL, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Radney Funeral Home, Oakleigh Chapel. Interment will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Rev. Ronnie Carson of Cottage Hill Baptist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
