Miss Mary Rose Oates

Mary Rose Oates, age 97, was born in Bassfield, Mississippi, on September 19, 1914 and died on January 18, 2012. She was retired from Mobile Infirmary where she worked as an RN for many years. Mary Rose was a devout Catholic. Upon retirement, she volunteered at Little Sisters of the Poor. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul, Patrick, and Daniel; and nephew, Paul Michael, Jr. She is survived by her nieces, Margaret Lockler, Rosemary Mongelluzzo (Bill) and Laura Weinacker (Rick); nephews, Thomas Oates (Charmaine), William Oates (Janet), and James Oates. She is also survived by numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Her family would like to give a very special thank you to her neighbors and our very good friends, Tina and Patrick Francis, for their constant caregiving. We would also like to thank caregivers, Jo Marie Portella, Susan Pierce, Saads Hospice, the staff at the Mobile Infirmary, and the Eucharistic Ministers at St. Dominic's. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Dominic Catholic Church on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the Church.
