Mary Jane (Janie) Patterson passed away at her home on May 21, 2020 at the age of 83 years old. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on March 10, 1937 to the parents of Francis and Ella Mae Bindner.
She is survived by her devoted, loving husband of 39 years, Charles W. Patterson, her son Charles (Chuck) Hayes (Sonya) and Heather Daniels (Michael), Laura Gremillion (Neil), Tiffany Olexy (Jeremy), one sister, Alice Dearing (John) and six grandchildren, Samantha, Taylor, Morgan, Constance, Daniel and Henry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Francis (Skip) Bindner (Wanita), and one sister Sharon Carpenter (Charles “Sonny).
Janie was a longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama for the past 47 years. She was a devout Catholic attending Corpus Christi Catholic Church for the past 45 years. She retired from AmSouth Bank as a collector and a highly skilled “skip tracer”. She volunteered for many years at Providence Hospital and Cottage Hill Baptist School. She loved holidays and getting to spend time with family, going to the “boats”, eating out, the Dollar Tree, visiting with friends and vacation trips. Most Sundays consisted of a long drive and then getting a milkshake at her and Charles’ favorite ice cream parlor, Old Dutch or crab claws at the Mariner Restaurant.
She is a breast cancer survivor and helped to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 9:15 a.m. - 9:50 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6300 McKenna Drive, Mobile, AL 36608
A celebratory Mass will be on Saturday, July 25 at 10:00am at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6300 McKenna Drive, Mobile, AL 36608.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of her favorite charities: The American Cancer Society, The Women’s Resource Center, The Little Sisters of the Poor or The Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
