Mattie Olive Tharp Folsom – loving wife, mother, and grandmother, an 88 year-old native of Bay Minette, AL and longtime resident of Mobile passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015. She was involved in many activities at Woodmont Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was director of the training union and continued her involvement at Government Street Baptist Church. Mrs. Folsom was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Jefferson Folsom. She is survived by her children, Amy Rollins (Mike, Mary Elaine Johnson, and George R. Folsom (Kathy); grandchildren, Jerry Gordon (Tina), Michael Johnson, James R. Folsom, Shannon York (Mike), Lindsey Boyd, and Alisha Folsom; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Pine Crest Funeral Home on Monday, June 1, 2015, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until the service hour.
