Losing one who is dear to our hearts is never easy and I am so sorry.  As your life goes on, and the boys, you guys will realize that you will never really stop missing her.  In time you will learn to live around the gaping hole of her absence.  Melissa was a special and unique woman with a heart of gold.  I know this because I saw this in her myself.  I loved her honesty and her sense of humor and the gentle way she dealt with the ladies in the Corps of Engineer's Women's Club.  I loved her mismatched earrings and nail polish colors and her much needed lectures and encouragement on everyday life events.  I learned to deal with missing her when we moved.  
    Gordon, when you lose your life's mate, I can only imagine your heart breaks wide open and the bad news being is that you never completely get over this loss.  However, in a backwards way, this is also good news.  She will live on in the warmth of your heart and in mine and she will remain a part of us and your family.  I know I will remember her always and cherish the good times we shared. I will look forward to seeing her again in heaven with a new body free from all disease and pain, and I will be in prayer for you and your family.  I know she loved you and the boys with a passion and she was so proud of her little red-haired granddaughter.
