

Melva Gene Lowrey Lundy, born October 8, 1935, a native of Canoe, Alabama and a resident of Mobile since 1943, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles M. Lowrey and Rose Boggan Lowrey; her sister, Gwineth Hearn; her brother, Charles M. Lowrey, Jr. and her son, Hugh C. Lundy, Jr. Survivors include Hugh C. Lundy, her best friend and husband of 56 years; her daughters, Joyce Saviak (Charles), Pamela Neese (James) of Mobile and Patricia Lynch (Robert) of Fredericksburg, VA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Melva Gene graduated from Murphy High School in 1953. She was a talented artist who raised her children well and was the business partner for her husband at Lundy Brothers TV until her health forced their retirement in 2003. Some of her favorite times were spent at their home on Dauphin Island and their many travels in their motor home. She was a faithful member of Zion Baptist Church. Melva Gene defied the odds many times over and survived several major illnesses thru the love and care of her husband. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 12 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the funeral home 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and profound appreciation to the wonderful caregivers at Coastal Hospice Care, especially Cindy and Steve.
