Michael is survived by his wife Lady Richard Lester of Mobile, son John Michael Lester (Samantha) of Chesapeake, Virginia, grandchildren Maxwell, Bennett, and Sabrina Lester of Chesapeake, Virginia, sister Karen Lester Richard of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, sister-in-law Genie Richard Blackwell of Louisiana, brother-in-law Edmond “Butch” Richard Jr. (Dottie) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, nephews Ross Richard, Scott Richard, Edmond Richard III, and niece Brigette Monistere, and numerous great nephews and nieces and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother Gladys Gregory, his father Jack Lester, mother-in-law Betty Richard, father-in-law Edmond Richard Sr., brothers-in-law Ronald Richard and Jack Blackwell.
Mike attended the Air Force Academy and was in the Reserves for an additional 5 years. His proudest accomplishment was serving as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 147 sponsored by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for 28 years. During those years, he touched countless boys’ lives, specially his 61 Eagle Scouts. He was an Eagle Scout himself, as is his son John.
A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Brad Clark, will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 4051 Old Shell Road. Visitation at 12:00 p.m., funeral at 1:00 p.m. with burial at Pine Crest West Cemetery, 1599 Snow Road, 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to a fund set up to benefit Troop 147. Donations can be sent to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, earmarked “For Troop 147, in memory of Mike Lester.”
