Murray W. Countryman

Murray Walter Countryman departed this world for his heavenly home on July 23, 2024. Murray was born on March 18, 1937, in Perdido, Alabama, the son of Walter and Ruby Countryman. He graduated from Vigor High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Alabama Polytechnic Institute, aka Auburn University. He retired from International Paper Company after 30 years and went on to work at Brown and Root Consulting. Murray held a professional engineering license in Alabama and Oklahoma. In addition, he served his country as a member of the Army Reserve. He was a long-time member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Diane Countryman, his son David Michael Countryman (Michelle), his daughter Linda Diane Brill (Michael), his grandchildren: Andrew Michael Countryman, Heather Nicole Ellington (Zach), Lauren Ivy Brill, Ashlyn Grace Brill, and his sister Wynell Bruce. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Ruby Countryman, his daughter Sharon Countryman, and his first cousin and lifelong best friend Donald “Ted” Slay.

A funeral service will be held on on Monday, July 29, 2024 at 1:00 PM. The family will begin to receive friends at 12:00 PM at Spring Hill Baptist Church, 2 McGregor Ave, Mobile, AL. He will be laid to rest at Pine Crest West Cemetery, 1599 Snow Road, Mobile, AL.
