Noreen Cardinal Lawrence was born on June 29, 1950 and departed this life for her eternal home on May 24, 2022, after a long battle with various illnesses. She was born in Red Falls, Minnesota, but has been a resident of Mobile, Alabama for 43 years.
She attended the University of Iowa and graduated with her certificate in Radiologic Sciences in 1975. She and her husband Butch, along with their two daughters, moved to Mobile in 1979 to enjoy the Gulf Coast weather. She gained employment at Providence Hospital in 1981, as a Radiology Technician. She retired in 2005 due to health issues, but not before becoming the Assistant Director of Radiology. She was also the recipient of the prestigious Vincentian Award at Providence Hospital. She made many close friends while working there, including her “Ya Ya’s”, Mary Kay Borcicky, Linda Nabors, Cindy Smith and Charlene Amacker.
She was blessed with a large and loving family and spent her retirement spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren, family and friends. She enjoyed shopping with her sisters, and always looked forward to her “Ya Ya’s “ girls trips. She loved helping others and she was loved by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Eugene Cardinal and Nora Beaudry Cardinal, as well as her sister, Paula Cardinal Tiesman. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Floyd "Butch" Lawrence; her daughters Keri Duvall (Gawain) and Gena Selman (Robert); seven grandchildren Kyle Hamilton, Kolby Duvall, Christopher Duvall, Nicholas Selman, Brandon Selman, Ryan Selman and Danielle Selman; sister Julie Cardinal Klare (Mark) and brother, Mark Cardinal (Shannon); and many nephews, nieces and other family.
Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Noreen's Life will be held in the funeral home chapel beginning at 2:00 p.m.
