

Peter Joseph Arata, Jr. – a 75 year-old native and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, born June 25, 1936, and a resident of Fairhope for the past 15 years departed life on February 24, 2012, at his home after a long illness. Mr. Arata worked for 35 years at the Mobile Housing Board where he served as Rehabilitation Finance Advisor and Rehabilitation Director. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope. Mr. Arata was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Joseph and Josephine Jacobs Arata, and sister, Nettie Arata Ahmadi. He is survived by his wife of 52, years, Ruth Rollings Arata; children, Wendy Arata Pilcher, Michele Arata Roberts (Mark), and Peter Joseph Arata, III; grandchildren, Brandon L. Roberts, Kyle L. Roberts, Amellia M. Roberts, Andrea Richards (Jason), Brooke A. Pilcher; sister, Mary Arata Lilley; brother, John Joseph Arata (Pam); brothers-in-law, Dr. Timothy P. Ahmadi (Elaine) and William Rollings (Edith); 1 great-granddaughter; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9 a.m. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Sunday, February 26, from 5-8 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
