

Rosemarie “Tutta” McKay – a native and resident of Mobile, AL for 89 years, passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2012, surrounded by five generations of her family. She was a graduate of Spring Hill College and was a school teacher. For many years, she tirelessly worked with child advocacy groups in Mobile, was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, and was a member of numerous Catholic organizations. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ann Adele McKay and John Patrick McKay, Sr.; sister, Margaret Mary Eslava; and brothers, Louie B. McKay and John Patrick McKay, Jr. She is survived by nieces, Margie (Tom) Wadsworth, Anne Farrar, Shirley Cornette; nephews, Patrick (Jeanne) McKay and Robert (Aurora) McKay; great-nieces and nephews, Linda McKay McLeod, Lisa Hoshstrasser (Kevin), Lucy (Rusty) Hawkins, Connie (Chris) Short, Marie (Steve) Hill, Heather, Heidi and Al Cornette, Robby Hill, Rick McKay and John McKay; and great great-nephews, Shawn McKay and Nick McKay. She was lovingly cared for by Linda McKay McLeod and great great great-nephew, Christopher McLeod. She was fervently dedicated to her church and was a passionate advocate for children. She leaves behind a wealth of friends and associates. Visitation will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Joyce Road in Mobile on Monday, September 24, 2012, from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial.
