On Tuesday, October 1, 2019, Sheila Gay Cheatham, a beautiful loving mother and Nana to her 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren passed away at age 70. Sheila was born July 4, 1949 in Memphis, TN. She practiced cosmetology for 30 plus years.
Sheila had a passion for creating beautiful things from jewelry making and crafts to gardening. She was an avid reader and a true believer in the word of God. She was quick to quote you a scripture or tell you a book in the bible that you needed to read. She was an excellent cook who believed in the southern secrets of butter and sugar and if you were skinny then you must not be happy.
Our mom was a loving and strong woman, she wasn’t afraid of anyone or anything. She loved her family and friends and always left you with an “I love you”, a hug, and a kiss.
Sheila is survived by her children, Shannon Corley (Jason), Richard Tanner (Sarita), and Crystal Sears (Richie); Grandchildren, Hannah Bacon (Tripp), Garrett Corley, Caleb Tanner, Keeley Sears and Whitney Sears; Great Grandchildren, Brooke Bacon and Wyatt Bacon. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters Butch Cheatham (Sheila), Linda Cheatham, Rudy Priest (Connie), Renee Redden (James), Robbin Colwell (Keith), Rickie Norman (Mike).
A special thank you to all the nurses and CNAs at Kindred Hospice and Mobile Nursing who helped us care for our Mom the past 6 months, especially Robin.
