She was born to the late John William Shiver and Ruby Nell Dewberry on January 3rd, 1957 in Baytown, Texas. Sheryl graduated from Vigor High School in 1975.
Sheryl worked as the Head Administrative Assistant for the Chair of Radiology at the University of South Alabama Medical Center for 15 years before retiring in 2019.
She married John Thomas Waltman on April 5th, 1985 in Saraland, Alabama. The two have lived together in Chunchula, Alabama for the last 30 years. Sheryl is survived by her husband, John, and their child, Erica Morris, spouse of Heath Morris, with their two children, Harper and William Morris. Additionally, Sheryl is survived by her three stepchildren: Matthew Waltman; Jennifer Cowart, spouse of Chuck Cowart, with her two children, Hunter and Landon; and April Reed, spouse of Christopher Reed, with their three children, Eli, Ethan, and Elliot. Sheryl is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Andy Shiver, spouse of Becky Shiver, with their children, Bryan and Jason; Terry Shiver, spouse of Jeannie Shiver, with their children, Kerry and Johna; Waymon Drew Morrison III, spouse of Alicia Morrison, with their children, Waymon Drew IV, Blakely, and Wesley; and Mary Morrison with her children, Emily and Anna Grace.
Sheryl is preceded by her sister Lisa Campbell, and survived by Lisa’s children, Joshua, Jacob, Chase, and Tiffany.
Sheryl most enjoyed spending time with her family. Whether hosting holiday events and cooking meals or simply mending a pair of torn clothes, she truly loved taking care of those close to her. Sheryl also enjoyed spending time at the beach, attending church services at Turnerville Baptist Church, and spending time with her grandchildren.
The family has entrusted Radney Funeral Home located at 3155 Dauphin Street, in Mobile, Alabama with the arrangements. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 16th, at 2:00 pm, with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm, and will be officiated by Christopher Reed. The burial will take place immediately after the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Saraland, Alabama. The family will be holding a reception following the burial at 12945 Roberts Road in Chunchula, Alabama.
