Shirley Ruth Ardion Doby, 79, was born August 12, 1942, in Mobile, Alabama to the late Neson Ardoin and Lucy Lee Kelley Blackerby. She was called to her Heavenly home on February 12, 2022 in Mobile, Alabama following her battle with COVID. Shirley was a member of Forrest Hill Church of God. She loved cooking, traveling, spending time with family. Shirley will be remembered as a Christian mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to anyone who knew her and loved her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hubert M. Doby, Sr.; her step-father, Ray M. Blackerby Sr.; her mother, Lucy Kelley Blackerby; one brother, Ray “Tony” Blackerby, Jr.; and one grandson, Daniel Eugene Doby.
Left to cherish Shirley’s beautiful memories will be one son, Hubert M. Doby, Jr. (Judy); one grandson, Christopher S. Doby; one sister, Faye Dunn (Francis); two brothers, Robert “Bobby” E. Blackerby, Wayne Blackerby; one sister-in-law, Cora Blackerby; three nephews, Shanon Burdett (Angie), Larry Smith (Wanda), Robert Ray "Beau" Blackerby; one niece, April Crump (Mike); one first cousin, Margaret Orr; along with many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Honoring Shirley as pallbearers will be Chris Doby, Shanon Burdett, Francis Dunn, Dennis Preston, Lee Allen, and William Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Dink and Larry.
A visitation for Shirley will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL 36606, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Forest Lawn Memorial Garden, 10000 Celeste Road, Saraland, Alabama, 36571.
