Shirley Menetre Hill, 91, passed away peacefully at her home on May 13, 2023. She was a native of Poplarville, MS and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL. She was preceded in death by her dear husband of 62 years, Hugh Logan Hill. She is survived by two daughters, Jan Hill Coon (Tom) and Jennifer Hill Fillingim (Warren-deceased); three grandchildren, Bradley Logan Coon (Jae) Carron Fillingim, and Kelly Fillingim Sexton (Jacob); great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Coon; great-grandson, Collier Coon; family friend, angel and caregiver, Frances Cunningham; as well as many special nieces, nephews, other relatives, and lifelong friends.
Shirley was a faithful member of Forest Hill United Methodist Church for many years and was an active member of United Methodist Women. Most recently, she was a member of Kingswood United Methodist. Shirley also enjoyed volunteering in the Gift Shop at Springhill Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. Over the years, her family enjoyed hearing her tell stories from her idyllic childhood in small town Poplarville, MS. Shirley will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 1 p.m. in Poplarville, MS. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 10 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at Kingswood United Methodist, 5200 Perin Road, Mobile, AL 36693.
