
Sue Lyner Magnes - devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother died peacefully on Thursday October 18, 2012. A native of Philadelphia, PA and a resident of Mobile for 64 years, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sid Magnes, her parents Elizabeth and Samuel Lyner and her seven siblings. She is survived by her son, Phil (Cindy) Magnes, and her daughters Norma (David) Conrad, of Mobile, AL, and Jo Anne (Jon) Fusco of Memphis TN. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren who called her Gram: Lisa and Phillip Magnes of Atlanta, GA; Wendy (Neal) Aronson of Atlanta, GA; Jeff (Chris) Conrad of Mobile; Jill (Chris) Hufnagel of Grand Rapids, MI; Patrick, Zachary and Ryan Fusco of Memphis, TN and 7 great grandchildren who called her Gigi. They are Stephen and Sydney Conrad, Matthew, Will and Ellie Aronson and Owen and Henry Hufnagel. She will always be remembered for her energetic, spunky spirit, her wonderful surprise cupcakes and chocolate icing and other desserts, and the youthful way she acted, looked and dressed. She was active as a volunteer at Spring Hill Hospital, Spring Hill Avenue Temple Sisterhood, National Counsel of Jewish Women, Hadassah, AIPAC and United Jewish Appeal. She enjoyed golf, bowling, knitting, reading and the arts. The family will never forget the loving care she received from her wonderful care givers and hospice nurse Traci. Funeral services will be held at the Springhill Ave Temple located at 1769 Springhill Avenue, Mobile, AL, on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sue and Sid Magnes Scholarship Fund at The Community Foundation of South Alabama or the Springhill Avenue Temple.
