Theodore Calvin Lee, Jr. "Ted" age 69, died at Providence Hospital, Thursday, April 17, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Rhodes Lee, two children, Michael David Lee (Retha) of Thomasville, GA and Pamela Lee Heinzman (Jim) of Citrus Springs, FL; six grandchildren, Jessica and Erica Lee and Anna, J. D., Caleb, and Seth Heinzman. He is also survived by his sisters Elizabeth Lee Hammack (Al) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Barbara Lee Allen (Charles) of Tallahassee, FL, and five nieces and one nephew. Ted was born in Jacksonville, FL. As a young man he was active in Boy Scouts and rose to Eagle Scout. After the family moved to Jacksonville Beach he graduated from Fletcher High School, attended Brevard College then enlisted in the Marine Corps achieving the rank of Sergeant. Following military duty he began a successful career in the maritime industry serving as Shipping Agent in major ports across the country including Clarke, N.J., Chicago, IL, Oakland, CA, New Orleans, LA. Ted finished his maritime career with T. Parker Host, formerly NSA Agencies , Inc. as Mid-Gulf - South Atlantic Manager at the Port of Mobile. He was responsible for many reforms and innovations in the industry. Ted was a member of the Propeller Club of U.S., served on the Maritime Committee for the Mobile Chamber of Commerce, and the Hurricane Preparedness Committee for the U.S. Coast Guard. He was frequently interviewed by The Press Register and the Port Authority Magazine (both Mobile, AL) whenever a shipping accident occurred or a new ship docked in Mobile. He loved his work and was dedicated to his career, the people and the challenges of the industry. Ted was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and a trusted and generous friend. Through many serious illnesses, he maintained a positive, gentle and humble spirit. His family and friends will miss him but are peaceful knowing that he is now with his Lord. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held on Wednesday in the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery in Spanish Ft. AL. at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
