Vernice Elizabeth McKeever Spotswood

Vernice Elizabeth McKeever Spotswood, age 94, of Mobile, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017. She is survived by her four children, Mary Spotswood Green, Robert S. (Moggie) Spotswood, Jr., Catherine S. (Jimmy) Hartman, and Michael J. Spotswood; fifteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several devoted friends, Woodie Perkins, Jerry Medicus, William L. Tew, Jr., Dr. Pat Nolan, Paul and Mary Jeanette Thompson, and Melvin Risper; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Mrs. Spotswood was preceded in death by her parents, William Francis McKeever and Lillian Armstrong Young McKeever; her husband of 61 years, Robert S. Spotswood Sr.; three brothers; and three sisters. Mrs Spotswood lived life as an active member of her church and participated on numerous projects including the ACCW, Ladies of Charity. St. Mary's Home, and United Way. An accomplished vocalist, she sang for many years with the choirs of both St. Joseph's and St. Pius Churches and also served as a cantor. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 14, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Bienville Room of Radney Funeral Home, Mobile. A rosary service will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Pius Catholic Church and School, Catholic Charities, and the Ronald McDonald House.
