

Virginia Lynn Beard Midgette, a native of Kirksville, Missouri and a long time resident of Mobile, Alabama died in her home September 13, 2023. She was a 1958 graduate of Murphy High School and graduated from Newcomb College of Tulane University in 1962.
She was married for 49 years to Maurice William "Bill" Midgette, Jr. Mrs. Midgette is survived by daughters, Leslie Midgette Hopper (Earl deceased) of Mobile and Kendall Midgette Millsap of Birmingham, Alabama. She is also survived by her four granddaughters Grace Michael Millsap of Houston, Texas, Turner Ansley Hopper of Mobile, Wallis Evelyn Millsap and Sims Marbury Millsap of Birmingham and her Ann Beard Darroch of Toronto, Canada.
Her educational accomplishments included completion of the Cytotechnology Program at the University of South Alabama Medical Center in 1977 and following certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology, practiced at the USA Medical Center. She later attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham and received a Master's Degree in Public Health in 1989. After which she continued her work in Cytotechnology at Providence Hospital until her retirement.
One of the great loves of her life was traveling with her husband which inspired her to become a licensed pilot with an instrument rating. Often she and Bill used to fly over his duck blinds to check their placements as he was an avid hunter.
They travelled extensively around the world. These trips included many much loved cruises, speeding trains, and air travel. Favorite destinations included Egypt, Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia.
Her lifelong love of sewing guided her to learn crochet which she enjoyed doing with her church group. Virginia's devotion to helping animals and wildlife led to her support of various humane facilities. One of her favorites being the nonprofit Alabama Wildlife Center.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Home Care Companions whom she lovingly called her "24/7" ladies.
The memorial service will be held October 28, 2023 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church of Mobile beginning at 10:00 a.m. where she was a long time member. The family will host a reception immediately following the service in the narthex.
