Walter dedicated his professional life to the field of microbiology, where his work reflected his intellect and curiosity for discovery. Outside the lab, he found joy in growing and harvesting his abundant vegetable garden, and was a proud member in The Camellia Club of Mobile where he enjoyed cultivating camellias—a cherished hobby where he achieved numerous awards and rewarded him the friendship of many fellow enthusiasts. Walter was a committed member of his church, Semmes First Baptist, for many years.
He is survived by his children: Theresa Lynn Dunn (Terry Dunn) and Jeffery Walter Creighton (Michelle Creighton); and by his grandchildren: Shawn Walter Burnham, Thomas Gilbert Burnham, Tripp Jeffery Creighton, and Paige Camellia Creighton.
A visitation for Walter will be held Friday, June 20, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Semmes First Baptist Church, 4070 Wulff Road, Semmes, Alabama 36575. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. The committal service will occur afterwards at Semmes First Baptist Cemetery.
