
Father Gorman was born on February 16, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Catholic elementary and secondary schools, as well as Rockhurst and Donnelly Colleges in Missouri before entering St. Mark’s School of Theology in South Union, Kentucky in 1973. He was ordained to the Priesthood of Jesus Christ on April 15, 1976 at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Mobile.
After ordination, Father Gorman was assigned as Assistant Pastor of Holy Family Parish, Mobile; Assistant Pastor of Little Flower Parish, Mobile; Administrator of St. Joseph Parish, Prattville; Assistant Pastor of St. Monica Parish, Mobile; Associate Pastor of the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception; Pastor of St. Michael Parish, Heron Bay; and Pastor of St. Edmund by the Sea Parish, Dauphin Island.
Father Gorman was preceded in death by his parents, William Edward Gorman and Gerturde Hilda De Rubertis Gorman. He is survived by four siblings, Sandra Gorman of Mobile, Thomas Gorman (Sheree) of Blue Springs, MO, John Gorman (Linda) of Redding, CA, and Elizabeth Hampton of Tamarac, FL; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening, January 9, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 2 S. Claiborne Street, Mobile, with the Office of the Dead for a Deceased Priest at 6:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception with interment following in the Priests’ Section of Catholic Cemetery, Mobile.
