William Columbus Osburn, Jr. “Chris”, 69, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at his home in Wilmer, Alabama. He was born to William Columbus Osburn, Sr. and Doris Artis Osburn on March 9, 1950 in Mobile, Alabama. Chris was a graduate of Murphy High School, class of 1968, and then went on to become an Air Force Security Police Sergeant. He was a working dog handler from 1969 until 1973. Chris worked with Degussa/Evonik for thirty five years before retiring as a Production Specialist.
Chris was a Godly man, a member of Haven Woods Baptist church in Semmes, Alabama, who loved and served the Lord. He enjoyed fishing, cooking – he was an award winning gumbo cook – and Alabama football. Chris was a family man. He loved and cherished his family and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, William Columbus Osburn, Sr. and Doris Artis Osburn.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years, Patricia Brooks Osburn; son, Michael William Osburn; daughter, Laura Brooks Wolfe (Matthew Daniel Wolfe); grandchildren, Ashley Nichole Osburn, Anthony William Osburn, Austin Michael Osburn, William “Liam” Matthew Wolfe, and Joseph Brooks Wolfe; one sister, Lola Jean Patterson; close friends Pepper Stubblefield and Charles Bogue; as well as other cherished family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mission of Hope, Mobile, AL in Mr. Osburn’s name.
