Wylene Parten Hawkins, 89 years old, born April 25, 1931 in Nanafalia, Alabama died May 24, 2020 in Mobile, Alabama. After many years of struggling with illness, her body could not fight any longer and she gained her angel wings.
Wylene retired from the Alabama State Highway Department after 25 years of service. She loved her family, friends, church family and Pastor Paul Montalvo of Snow Road First Baptist in Semmes. She was the ultimate Atlanta Braves baseball and Auburn football fan. She never missed a game.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie B. Hawkins, her daughter Sandy and her grandson Sam. She is survived by William Duane Hawkins (Anne) and daughters, Susan Hawkins Mayson and Elizabeth Sanders, grandson Jeremy J. Mayson (Mandy), Travis Gray Sanders, William Grey Hawkins (Stacey) and granddaughters Elizabeth Hawkins, Sandra Ruth Mayson and Sarah Wylene Mayson and great grandchildren Garrett and Anne-Marie Mayson.
Her favorite Bible verse was Romans: 28. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Graveside services will be held Friday, May 29, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Pine Crest Cemetery, 1939 Dauphin Island Pkwy., Mobile, AL 36605
