Timothy Hugh Crawford 69 years of age, born April 15, 1947 Grand Island, Nebraska, passed into the loving arms of Jesus July 6, 2016 at home in California City in the company of his wife of thirty-eight years, Lois Crawford, and children. His daughter Tara McCoy, & her husband Dale, his son Donald (DJ) Crawford his wife Mayra Wong. His two step-sons Stephen and Daniel Woodall, of DeValls Bluff, Arkansas, could not be present but are holding him in their prayers. He is preceded in death by his father William Henry Daniel Crawford III, his mother Dorothy Lucille Tovias, his sister Marie Lungren and his brother Michael Crawford. He is survived by two sisters, Kathleen Kelly and Colleen Bell and four brothers William Crawford IV, Patrick Crawford, Dennis Crawford and Brian Crawford. Tim grew up mostly in Simi Valley, Chatsworth and Pacomia, California. Tim served in the US Coast Guard from 1966 to 1970. He began his career as an Electrician working for independent contracts all throughout Simi Valley, the San Fernando Valley and several Southern California areas. After his apprenticeship he worked for several large contractor, Brown & Root, Lufkin Industries, Plustex Poultry, General Dynamics (Egypt), GE, RCA, Martin Marietta, Lockheed Martin (NASA). Tim retired from Lockheed Martin at NASA, Edwards AFB, after twenty-two years of service. His work was dictated to the Shuttle, Shuttle Area and Recovery Team.
Being raised with traditional Catholic values Tim was very loyal and proud of his wife, children and family. He was very proud of his service in the USCG and the Shuttle program at NASA Edwards AFB. The Shuttle Program held a special place in his heart. He would always say, “We are part of history. This is a first and this time will never come again.” He took great pride in being part of this experience.
Tim had a very charismatic personality. He enjoyed people and could make conversation with anyone. Always loyal to his wife but he was a bit of a flirt. He loved to argue with his brothers and sons, in true Irish Catholic tradition, mostly about cars; an oil change on someone cars could erupt into a very loud discussion that went on for hours.
Tim was dearly loved by his wife, children and family. The family is comforted now knowing that he is peacefully resting in the arms of Jesus. He will be missed by all family and friends.
Viewing will be held on Friday July 22, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:30 at Stickel Mortuary followed by burial at Bakersfield National Cemetery at 1:15.
