David H. Stewart, age 83, of Peotone, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Bonnie M. White-Stewart nee Coffey. He is also survived by his blended family of his children: Cindy, David, Liesa Stewart-Morales, & William (Lisa) Stewart; her children: Tom Coffey, Cindy White, & Don (Christa) White; and their grandchildren: Abigail & Hayley Stewart, Alexandra, Zachery, Brandon, & Jordan White, and Anna & Tony Morales. David is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Leatha Stewart; previous wife, Janet Stewart; son, Robert Stewart; and brothers, Herb and Gerald Stewart.
David was a loving and cherished husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his devoted dog, “Ladybug.” You could often find David out riding his lawn mower in Peotone. Through the years he enjoyed boat racing competitions, rebuilding cars with his son, woodworking, and home improvements. Born and raised in Kane and New Castle, PA, David worked for the American Cyanamid Company in the Explosives Division as a Senior Research Technician manufacturing dynamite as a licensed blaster in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Eventually he headed to Chicago. There he studied at Devry Institute which led him to a career as a plant engineer, working for numerous paint plants such as Color Tile, True Value, and Ace Paint in which he designed and improved plant operations for 23 years until his retirement in 2006. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will take place on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Skyline Memorial Park (24800 S. Governors Hwy., Monee, IL). Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, 10:00 A.M. at Skyline Memorial Park. Interment to follow. Please call 708-534-8256 with any questions.
