

Claire F Roman, age 62, of Stratford, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 26th, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s. Born in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Agnes Troost. Before her husband Richard’s passing, they celebrated 39 wonderful years together, including traveling to their favorite places Bath, Maine and Sturbridge, Massachusetts, and playing pinochle with her sister Marion and brother-in-law Bob. A devoted wife, grandmother, and great grandmother, she is survived by daughters Cathy Portillo of New Haven and Marion Rodriguez of Stratford, grandchildren Catherine, Charles, Laura, Claire, Rebecca & Anna, and great grandchildren Gabriel Angel and Robert Andrew, and Sister Marion Lowman of Southbury, niece Laurie Cole, nephew Robert Lowman Jr., and other nieces and nephews. She attended Rogers School& Stratford High, graduating as valedictorian from Rippowam. Her contributions to the Church included running the bingo at St. Benedict’s and catechist aide at Holy Name in Stamford. She was retired after working at H & L Chevrolet in Darien, and Shoprite in Stamford. She was a lifetime Yankees fan, and her many hobbies included; playing guitar, needlework, quilting, and reading Danielle Steele. Her beautiful smile and sense of humor made her loved by all. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 2nd at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Parish 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford. Interment will be private.
