

Ernest Evariste Salvas, of Monroe, CT passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on September 8, 2015. Known to most as Ernie, he was born October 7, 1930 in Stowe, VT. The son of Wilfred and Marie Clair Salvas, he is survived by his wife of 54 years Alice (Davis) Salvas, along with three sons Rodney, Douglas and his wife Debra Salvas, Donald and his wife Sandra of Monroe, two daughters, Barbara Salvas of Phoenix, AZ, Betsy Streck and her husband Mark of Newtown. Five grandchildren, Derek and Haley Streck, Jesse, Emily and Marina Salvas. Ernest is also survived by three brothers and two sisters. Normand Salvas, Lenard Salvas, Florence Lonergan, Jerome Salvas and his wife Joan, Hismarianne Fitzgerald and her husband Michael and several nieces and nephews. Ernie was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He moved to Connecticut after his service in 1955 settling in Monroe, where he eventually owned and operated his own landscaping business, E. E. Salvas Landscaping, and raised his family.
He was a hardworking man who was known by many for his generosity and the first with a helping hand. He will be truly missed by family and friends, them knowing they hold his memory in their hearts. Calling hours for family and friends will be held at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher and Son Community Funeral Home at 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT on Friday September 11, 2015 between the hours of 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A memorial mass will be held at Saint Stephen's Parish 6948 Main Street, Trumbull, CT 06611 on Saturday September 12, 2015 at 10:00 AM.
