Joan Carpenter

CARPENTER Joan Iris (Ek) Carpenter, age 79, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her loving husband Earl Carpenter. Born in Bridgeport, CT on November 15, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Fritz Donald and Minna (Marr) Ek. Before her retirement, she was a personnel manager at the former Tenax Corporation in Danbury for over 25 years. She was an avid reader and loved to cook. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her two grandsons. She is survived by her loving children John Carpenter of Monroe and Carol Ann Shearstone; son-in-law Peter Shearstone; and her two beloved grandsons, Matthew and Christopher Shearstone - all of Landenberg, PA; her sisters Sonja Morazes of Milford and Doris Seeley of Berthoud, CO and her brother Ed Ek of Newtown. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her brother Fritz Donald Ek, Jr. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Her children would like to thank their Aunt Sonja for her loving care of their Mom during the past few months. Family and friends may call at the Spadaccino and Leo P.
