She was born on April 8, 1946 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Helen (Geddes) LaLond.
She attended Bunnell High School in Stratford, CT for 3 years but completed her high school career at Jonathan Law High School in Milford, CT where she was a majorette. She continued her education at Butler Business School. Throughout her life she was a dedicated and hardworking woman who spent many years in retail management and clerical work. Marge also enjoyed hobbies such as crocheting doilies and blankets, traveling with her husband, game nights at grandmas, hosting Halloween, and her love of scratch off tickets.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, the love of her life. Their story began on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1965, when they met at a party. Just months later, they married on June 4, 1966, and shared 45 years of marriage. Together they built a life, raised a family, and stood side by side through all of life’s joys and challenges. Later, she and Arthur moved to Derby, where they welcomed their youngest child and raised their children together.
Derby became the place she called home, where their family grew and where she lived with her husband until his passing in 2011.
She was also predeceased by her mother, Helen, and her brothers, Charlie and Norman, her aunts Ruby, Thelma, and Lois as well as her best friends Beatrice Hudson and Jean Orts.
She is survived by her children: Randall Johnson (Elizabeth Weiblen), Denise Shull (Joseph Vinci), Wendy DeCarlo (widow of Robert), and Cherie Brewster (Dan) as well as her beloved grandchildren: Ashley, Samantha, Jenifer, Alec, Christopher, Natalie, and Jackson; and her great-grandchildren: Zackary, Presley, Sophia, Pheona, Thomas, and Lanah.
Marjorie was lucky to find love again with longtime family friend and companion Clifford Hudson (widower of Beatrice Hudson). Clifford has been an integral part of our family ever since.
Being our mom was the most important role of her life. She loved us deeply and fiercely. She was strict, and she didn’t always make things easy but everything she did came from wanting us to grow up strong, responsible, and prepared for life. We will carry values she instilled in us with us every day.
No matter how busy life was, her family always came first. We will remember our mom/grandma for her strength, determination, devotion to family, and the lessons she taught us, sometimes gently, sometimes firmly, but always with love. She shaped who we are, and her presence will live on through us and through the generations that follow. We will miss her every day and carry her with us always.
