

Russ was born in Tekoa, WA, a small town 40 miles south of Spokane, on May 2, 1943. His father was a railroad engineer of the Union Pacific Railroad and his mother was a housewife. Russ peacefully passed away on July 24, 2017 in Kirkland, WA.
Russ is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jeanette Rose Harris, his brother and sister-in–law Steve Harris (Kathy). His son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Harris (Nicole), daughter and son-in-law Jennifer Mandel (Eric), son and daughter-in-law Patrick Harris (Jennifer), and daughter and son-in-law Kamala Plaisted (John), step daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Drews (Bill), stepdaughter Kerry Stebbins.
He is also survived by 6 six grandchildren, Madison Harris, Keeley and Weston Harris, Zoe and Alexis Mandel, and John Brody Plaisted. Also, six step grandchildren, Truman and Quincy Plaisted, Chase, Kyle and Sarah Drews and Ellie Hay.
Education: Russ graduated in 1961 from North Central High School in Spokane, WA. He attended Gonzaga University for 2 years in the U of WA honors Liberal Arts School. He received a B.S. in Chemistry and Physics from the U of WA in 1966. He graduated from the U of WA Medical School in 1970. He completed a Pediatric emphasis Internship at the United States Navy Hospital in San Diego from 1970 -1971. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at USN Hospital from 1971 - 1974.
Employment: Director of Endocrinology Clinic at Camp Pendleton USN Hospital from 1974- 1976. He was an Internist at The Bellevue Clinic in Bellevue, WA from 1976- 1999 and an Internist for Group Health Cooperative in Federal Way, WA from 2000-2005 where he was loved and revered by his many patients.
He paid for his education by working for UPRR and Milwaukee RR as a Fireman, Engineer, Clerk and B & B Gang. He was awarded the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the USN from 1968 to 1976 and named Teacher of the Year by the Internist Class of 1975 at the USN Hospital, San Diego, CA.
Hobbies: Russ was a gifted man with many talents and interest. He loved sailing, fishing, and golfing. He was gifted musically and played steel guitar for a band while at Gonzaga University. He also played the banjo, trumpet and violin. He had a servant’s heart and was always willing to be a handyman for homes, cars, or boats.
The family wishes to thank the faithful caregivers who have helped Russ “Doc” during his long illness. They have brought much comfort and peace to Russ and his family.
Services for Russle Herbert Harris, JR will be held on Friday, July 28th at Purdy and Kerr w/Dawson Funeral Home, 409 W. Main St., Monroe, WA.
Viewing will be in the Chapel at 10:00am, the Funeral will be held at 11:00am, with a Reception to follow.
Burial will be held at Sultan Cemetery following the services at Purdy & Kerr w/Dawson, approximately 2:00pm.
