

While it is possible to receive good counsel from a wide circle of family and friends, few could do it with the skill and aptitude of Jessica Suzanne Miller-Wong. She had a true talent for helping others reach their full potential and brought out the best in those who sought her help. Jessica was a forward-looking woman whose personality was filled with empathy toward everyone she met. She could be quiet and reserved, but her style of communication was authentic and direct. An excellent communicator, Jessica was a master at using imagery when she explained her ideas and concepts. She seemed to have an endless supply of innovative concepts and strategies for how to help those around her. Her sensitivity, kindness and generous attitude made her a wonderful friend for all who knew her.
From the time she was born on March 1, 1983, Jessica showed a deep concern for others. She was a giving and caring individual, ethical and full of integrity and warmth. Jessica came into this world at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, CA. Her parents were Dale and Carmen Miller. Jessica was raised in Monrovia, CA.
Because fellowship was so important to her, Jessica promoted harmony with her siblings. She was raised with two. She had one older bother Dale Jr. and one younger sister Christina. Jessica was something of the family diplomat. She helped to settle problems and conflicts and kept the family running smoothly.
As a young girl, Jessica interacted well with other children. She was helpful. She was an independent person who had a vivid imagination. Jessica had a number of interests in her youth. She was an active child. Jessica took part in ballet and gymnastics. She was a girl scout and a missionette. In her spare time she liked singing, theater, arts & crafts and martial arts. Jessica's memorable achievements included being in the Rose Parade, graduating high school w/ honors and being accepted to APU.
A good student who was enthusiastic about learning, Jessica was considered by many to be a high achiever. She graduated from Monrovia High in 2001. She enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite courses and teachers. Her favorite class in high school was drama/theater and English/literature. The teacher she enjoyed learning from the most was Mr. Randy Bell. Graduated with Thespian honors and she acted in many plays.
Jessica's talents in writing proved to be an asset for her during her college years. She excelled in classes, even in some subjects that didn't particularly interest her. Jessica became known to her peers as a seeker of wisdom who appreciated all types of courses, especially those in Liberal Arts which allowed her to build on her remarkable retention of general knowledge. Her favorite courses were theater while she attended Citrus junior college.
Able to maintain a positive focus on the potential good to be found in others, Jessica was always ready with solid advice and guidance to offer her group of friends. She was generally friendly to all who knew her, yet to some she seemed quite independent. For those who really knew Jessica, they recognized that she could be full of surprises. Jessica enjoyed a small but solid group of true friends. She would willingly support those friends when they needed it. Because of her ability to read people, she had an uncanny knack for knowing when a friend needed help. Later in life, she became friends with Jorane and Grace amongst many others.
Jessica was romantic, even poetic at times. She was completely devoted to family and friends, able to show her emotions without going overboard about it. On September 27, 2008 Jessica exchanged wedding vows with Daniel Erik Wong at Embassy Suites of Arcadia, CA.
As an imaginative and inventive person, Jessica was comfortable showing her creative spirit. She enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Once Jessica took on a new project, she saw it through to its completion. Her favorite pursuits were jewelry making, card making, candle making and scrap booking. She also loved to travel with her family and husband. Hawaii, Las Vegas, Disneyland, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Lake Tahoe, Florida, Prince Edward Island, Big Bear and Oceanside were a few of her favorite vacations/trips. She was content to enjoy her hobbies alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Jessica was a woman with clear convictions and high principles, and her faith was important to her. She was an inspiration to many people who recognized her sense of commitment and esteem for others. When she was younger and healthier she was a part of the Christian youth group and loved to sing in the choir.
Jessica was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of Jessica's favorites was Roxy, a Boxer. They absolutely loved each other and Roxy was always by her side when Jessica felt sick. They were best friends for 7 years.
Jessica passed away on January 30, 2017 at home in Monrovia, CA. Jessica fought a brave battle against CF. She is survived by husband Dan Wong, father and mother Dale and Carmen Miller and brother Dale Miller Jr. Services were held at New Life Assembly of God. Jessica was laid to rest in Turner and Stevens Live Oak Mortuary.
Though she could be a private person at times, Jessica was always able and willing to give of herself. She was so in tune with others that she often seemed able to read their minds. Jessica carried with her an almost mystical sense of life. She was a person who was highly original in her thinking and used metaphors and symbols to describe many aspects of her life. A poetic, intuitive “teacher”, Jessica Suzanne Miller-Wong shared herself freely and family and friends will remember Jessica for the strength of her convictions.
