John Raymond Hertzberg, was born on June 26, 1918 near Carpio, North Dakota and passed away on June 14, 2013 in San Bernardino, California. He is survived by his son, Ronald L Hertzberg of Colorado; two step-daughters, Lina Lynne Rogers of Yucaipa, California, and Janice Louise Knight, of Mannington, West Virginia; siblings, Marie F. Hertzberg and Glenn M. Hertzberg of El Monte, California; and cousin, Harold L. Herzberg and wife Viola of Salton Sea, California.
John was the son of Theodore Carl Herzberg and Veronica Catherine Frank. He worked 14 years as a fireman, maintenance worker, and steam operator for the John Deere powerhouse in North Dakota. He was married to Elaine N. Roths, of Iowa. He later moved to California where he married Louise Francis Martin in 1970, and worked for the Temple City School District for approximately 25 years. Upon retirement from Temple City School District, he moved from Temple City, to Fontana, where he resided for some time. For the last ten years, he has lived in Yucaipa, California. He was loved by all and will be surely missed. Services are scheduled for Friday, June 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Live Oak Memorial Park.
