Born August 3, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to Louis and Mary Malito Borgia who immigrated from Italy. The only daughter of four children, Rosemary learned early on how to hold her own with her three brothers. Rosemary was blessed with an outgoing personality and she made friends everywhere she went. She was an amazing cook and hostess, passing this passion on to her daughters. Rosemary was active in many social groups where she often held leadership positions.
Rosemary’s faith was of great importance to her. A devout Catholic, she prayed the rosary daily and offered her prayers for her family. Rosemary was a member of the Maryknoll Guild where at one time she would help make rosaries with the sisters. She was a longtime parishioner of Annunciation Church in Arcadia. She was also active at Holy Angels Church in Arcadia as a member of the Italian Catholic Federation Branch 218.
A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, family was the most important aspect of Rosemary’s life. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Edmund “Eddie” Mizia. A true Italian mother, she loved and cherished her four children: Robert Mizia of Lake Oswego, OR, Diane Cranor (Jeff) of Danville, CA, Susann McDaniel of Monrovia, CA and William Mizia (Joan) of Glendora, CA. Rosemary was blessed with four grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure as “Nani” to Patrick Cranor, Collin Cranor (Samantha), Leigh Mary Cranor and Andrew McDaniel. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Her niece Mary Catherine Borgia of Corona del Mar and her nephew James Borgia of Chicago were especially close to her.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary Borgia and her three brothers, Peter Borgia, Dominick Borgia and William Borgia.
A viewing for Rosemary will be held on Thursday, June 28 from 12:30-4:30pm at Turner & Stevens – Live Oak 200 E Duarte Road, Monrovia, CA. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 29 at 10am at Annunciation Church 1307 E Longden Ave, Arcadia, CA
