Robin Marguerite Coates
April 19, 1959 – August 6, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Robin Coates, aged 66, on August 6, 2025. She leaves behind her loving husband of 23 years, Jim Everts; her stepson Wesley Everts; her stepdaughter Samantha Everts Matusol; her sisters Martha Coates Eveleigh and Henny Coates; and her nephews Anton and Cedric Coates. She was predeceased by her parents, Marguerite and Peter Coates, as well as her in-laws Allyn and Glady Everts.
Robin was a caring, passionate, and thoughtful individual who made time for everyone she knew. Born and raised in Collingwood, Ontario, she was on skis by the age of three and began teaching skiing at the age of 15. A dedicated member of the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance for over 50 years, she earned her CSIA Level III certification 12 years before her passing. Robin was also a designated member of the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation. For the last 20 years, she was a committed ski instructor at Mont-Tremblant, Quebec—her second home, both on the ski slopes and in the gymnasium.
In addition to her love for skiing, Robin was a lifelong advocate for animal welfare. She served on the board of directors for the Ottawa SPCA, and her graduate thesis focused on financial support for the SPCA. Even while skiing in places like Chile, Europe, and New Zealand, she fostered stray cats in her hotel rooms, if only temporarily. Her love for animals was evident in every aspect of her life, and her homes were always filled with pets.
All who knew Robin are invited to join a celebration of her life on September 12th from 3:30 to 6:00 PM at the Instructor Hub, Fat Martis, at the Base 8 of Mont-Tremblant.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA are welcome in her memory.
