Franklin "Ankie" Delano Melsoni

Franklin "Ankie" Delano Melsoni, age 83, of Montevallo, Alabama passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023. He was born to Ghuido and Dorothy Grill Melsoni of Eddingstown, Alabama. He graduated from West Blocton High School and then served in the United States Army. He married his best friend's sister, Sue Phillips, and they devoted their lives to their family. He worked for O'Neal Steel in Birmingham for over 30 years. Following his retirement, he worked for 10 years at Shelby County School of Technology in Columbiana. He was an avid Alabama fan and enjoyed feeding the deer and fish on their property.

Ankie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Earl Sims, Jr. and Charles Melsoni; and sister, Mildred Sims Johnson. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Sue Phillips; sons, Steve Melsoni and David Melsoni (Leslie); sisters, Barbara Cook and Dean Calfee; and numerous nieces and nephews including his favorite, Sheila Dennis.

A viewing for Ankie will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Rockco Funeral Home, 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, Alabama 35115. Following the viewing will be a graveside service at 2:30 PM at Macedonia Cemetery, Highway 22, Pea Ridge, Alabama. Casual attire preferred.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
