Gary Ray Kendrick

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and pastor, Gary Ray Kendrick of Calera, Alabama, went to be with our Lord on August 1, 2014. He was also known as Pete, Brother Gary, and Lala. Gary graduated from Woodlawn High School, Howard (Samford) University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Gary was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He served as pastor of 6 churches in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. In his retirement years, he worked at Wal-Mart in Calera as a greeter. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Elizabeth Tubbs Kendrick; daughter, Gara Lucas (Brian) of Thorsby, AL; and son, Sean Kendrick (Paige) of Calera, AL. Three grandchildren, who called him Lala, are Bailey Lucas, Cody Lucas and Mia Paige Kendrick. Sister, Eugenia McIntosh of Guntersville, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Clessie Kendrick; sister, Margaret Ganster and brother, E. Bentley Kendrick, Jr. A Praise/Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at First Baptist Church Alabaster, AL at 7:00 PM. A family burial service was held earlier on August 2, 2014 at Montevallo City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church of Alabaster.
